ABOUT THE BOOK

For decades, Albert Goldbarth has examined our place in the cosmos in his unique, wry, and deeply felt meditative poems and essays. The End of Space is a 10-part essay whose leaping-off point is the end of NASA’s Shuttle Program. Like much of his writing, this lyrical outpouring is a quirky mixture of litany, elegy, social commentary, philosophy, poetry, sci-fi heroes, and the glories and failures of everyday life. Winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award for Poetry, and the author of over 40 books, Goldbarth has come to be one of the most influential and inventive writers of his generation.

26 copies have been hand-bound into cloth-covered boards. See Special Editions page for ordering information.

"Albert Goldbarth is a poet of remarkable gifts—a dazzling virtuoso who can break your heart."

—Joyce Carol Oates
